Hormone-Refractory Prostate Cancer
Cleveland BioLabs is currently conducting a trial for Curaxin CBLC102 in patients with Androgen-Independent (Hormone-Refractory) Prostate Cancer.

Prostate cancer (CaP) is the most common neoplasm diagnosed in men. It is estimated that approximately 75% of men 80 years and older have histological cancer of the prostate. While the prevalence of CaP in 50 year old men may be as high as 30-40%, only about 8% are clinically diagnosed with the disease. Many prostate cancers cannot be cured by surgery and such patients are treated with endocrine (hormone ablation) therapy. 70-80% of patients respond favorably and disease palliation is achieved for several months or years. However, regardless of the method used for hormone ablation, all patients eventually relapse with androgen-independent disease that can no longer be controlled through androgen ablation. Currently, there are no effective second line therapies available for this stage of the disease. As a result, prostate cancer is now the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality among men.
