Finance Director
Established in 2003, Cleveland BioLabs, Inc. (NASDAQ:CBLI) is a biotechnology company leveraging its proprietary discoveries around programmed cell death to develop a robust pipeline of drugs for multiple medical and defense applications. CBLI’s pipeline includes products from two primary families of compounds: Protectans and Curaxins. Protectans are being developed as drug candidates that protect normal tissues from acute stresses such as radiation, chemotherapy, and ischemias (pathologies developed as a result of blocking blood flow to a part of the body). Curaxins are being developed as anticancer agents that could act as mono-therapy drugs or in combination with other existing anticancer therapies. CBL headquarters is located in Buffalo NY.
Job Description:
This position reports to the CFO and will be responsible for financial analysis including cash forecasts and budgeting, SEC reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and management of the accounting system operated by a third-party vendor. This position will interact extensively with executive management and other project/operational managers.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Develop/coordinate budgets and cash forecasts with operational personnel
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements (CBLI has two foreign-based subsidiaries), and assist with the preparation of all externally reported financial data, primarily 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and Proxy Statements.
- Ad hoc analyses of financial results and business advisory support.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures; and ensure such systems and procedures are operational
- Supervise two assistants
Competencies Include: (items are required unless noted otherwise):
- In-depth understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices, SEC rules and regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Consolidation accounting, public-company equity accounting
- Organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Effective multi-project management skills.
- Ability to transform raw data into actionable business advice/counsel.
Qualifications include:
- BS/BA in Accounting/Finance required, CPA/MBA preferred
- Big 4 public accounting preferred
- Biotechnology industry experience preferred
- Public company and Sarbanes-Oxley experience preferred
- Over 7 years of professional experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project)
- Proficiency with Deltek accounting software, a plus
- Fluent in Russian, a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
